Also, If he is attacking enemy troops and is supported by the Celestial Hurricanum, he will be reliably killing 8 to 9 models per turn (oh, and those 8 to 9 models could be ogres or something similar). This increases if he is supported by a Celestial Hurricanum. Now, Karl Franz should inflict 5 hits, 2 - 3 which should bypass the ubiquitous 4+ ward, which means that he will likely inflict 6 - 9 damage. The combined profile eliminates this weakness Karl Franz and Deathclaw now attack with an improved version of Ghal Maraz. The real weakness of Ghal Maraz was the fact that Empire characters have limited Weapon Skill and Attack characteristics. Deathclaw's additional attacks were strong, but not so strong as to ignore armor and cause multiple wounds. Powerful, yes, but that was acceptable because he was a Special Character and Ghal Maraz was simply a Runefang with a damage bonus furthermore, half of Karl Franz's attacks would likely miss against targets that really mattered meaning that he would statistically cause 4 damage against an enemy character, or 2 damage assuming the opponent has a 4+ ward save. Before, Karl Franz only had four attacks that automatically wounded, ignored armors saves, and caused D3 wounds. That's not really the issue the real issue is with the Essence of Ghal Maraz and combined profiles. You lose Bloodroar but gain a S4 breath weapon and 3+ scaly skin putting the combined model at a 1+ armour save, making this, along with the increased toughness, the most durable Karl on the market. You also get an additional wound per successful blow, with the boosted Ghal Maraz, increasing the average multiple wound from 2 to 3 (50% increase). New Karl is stubborn, something that is incredibly useful for monsters. Karl Franz Ascendant costs 810 points, 225 points more than regular Karl, and here is what you get:ġ+WS, 1+Wounds, 1+Initiative and 1+ Attack. Pretty expensive, but also incredibly intimidating. ![]() ![]() He has The Silver Seal and an optional Ghal Maraz. With full plate armour and a mount he would have a 3+ armour save. ![]() He also has two useless rules: Hold The Line and Loyal Beast. In the special rules department he has Fly, Immune to psych, 24" Inspiring Presence and Terror with Bloodroar. Here is good old Karl Franz, The Emperor, on Deathclaw with combined profiles: How good is the new, supercharged Karl Franz compared to our regular Karl?
